Career Development Coach
Seeking a qualified career services practitioner to advance students’ career development by providing effective career counseling, coaching, and advising.
The Career Development Coach will manage career services for the College of Hospitality, Retail & Sport Management, the SC Honors College, Capstone Scholars, and first-year students in the Darla Moore School of Business. 60% of this position has direct student contact and involves counseling, coaching and advising students.
Skills in career counseling, psychometric assessment, program planning, public relations, and group presentations are necessary to perform the required duties. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must relate effectively to students, faculty, staff and employers in a higher education setting.
· Provide counseling coaching and advising to: 1) Help students understand the relationship between self-knowledge and major/career choice through formal and informal career assessments. 2) Provide students with relevant occupational, educational, and employment information that helps them to explore a wide range of major/career options. 3) Empower students to make reasoned major/career choices and to develop realistic implementation plans. 4) Increase awareness and promotion of experiential education opportunities to students. 5) Improve student preparedness for job search activities and professionalism in the workplace.
· Increase student participation in career counseling, coaching, and advising through a variety of formats including drop-in interactions, individual appointments, and presentations/workshops.
· Participate in Career Center and Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support events.
This position reports to the Associate Director for Career Development and Experiential Education. The Career Center reports to the Department of Enrollment Management within the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support.
Masters degree in Student Services or related field and 1 year related experience, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience.
