Full-Time Faculty Position in Actuarial Science
The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a full-time non tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Practice in Actuarial Science and the Director of the Actuarial Science Program (ASP) beginning Fall 2018. Candidates should demonstrate the potential for excellent teaching in the actuarial science curriculum leading up to being credentialed at the associateship level. Desired qualifications include experience as an actuarial analyst, a documented record of instruction and student mentoring, and demonstrated success working with diverse individuals. Actuarial credentials at the associateship or fellowship level with either the SOA or CAS or a society mutually recognized by the SOA or CAS are required.
The position carries a teaching load of five courses per year (3/2 semester load). In addition to teaching, the director will be responsible for keeping the program current, engaging in professional and community outreach and student mentoring.
The Department of Mathematics consists of 11 full-time faculty who provide coursework in mathematics, applied mathematics, actuarial science, and statistics for our 50 math, applied math, and actuarial science majors, and for many other majors requiring mathematics.
The University is a comprehensive, student-centered, private university with its main campus located in Stockton, CA. The Department of Mathematics is a part of a College which offers programs in humanities, fine arts, and social and natural sciences. The campus further contains Schools of Engineering & Computer Science, Education, Business, Pharmacy, International Studies, and Music.
