Position Summary |
Internship Coordinator/Instructor of Exercise, Sport & Movement Sciences (ESMS) within the School of Health Studies (SHS). The position involves a 12-month contract. A teaching load of two or three course sections (6-9 credit hours) for each fall, spring, and summer semester is expected. Courses may include Exercise Physiology I and II, Exercise Testing and Interpretation Lab, Advanced Strength Training and Conditioning, Exercise and Special Populations, and Introduction to ESMS. Developing and overseeing the entire internship program for the SHS is expected, as is supervision of student interns. Service to the school, university, and profession is expected. |
Minimum Position Qualifications |
A minimum of an earned Master’s degree is required (doctoral degree preferred) in Exercise Science or a related area of study. The ability to teach lower and upper division ESMS undergraduate courses (e.g., Introduction to ESMS, Exercise Physiology, and/or Exercise Laboratory Testing Techniques) is required. Current certifications in any or all of the following are desired: NSCA® Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, ACSM® Certified Exercise Physiologist, ASEP® Exercise Physiology Certified. The ability to develop and maintain internship site opportunities for students within all disciplines in SHS is required. Effective oral and written communication skills are strongly desired. Candidate must meet eligibility requirements to begin and continue working in the United States at the time of appointment. |
