Tenure track faculty postion - Department of Civil Engineering
The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor starting August 2018. UT Tyler’s Civil and Environmental Engineering program was established in 2005 and is a vibrant, growing department located on the main campus in Tyler, TX, a city of over 100,000 people in the beautiful, piney woods region of East Texas and has grown to include students at the UT Tyler Houston Engineering Center in Houston, TX. This position is for a faculty member on the main campus in Tyler.
We are interested in applicants whose research has the potential to enhance the sustainability of the built and natural environments as well as stewardship of natural resources. This includes, but is not limited to, areas such as environmental engineering and water resources, and performance-based engineering of structural, geotechnical, or transportation infrastructure systems with sustainable materials design considerations. The ability to collaborate in research with others in both civil and environmental engineering as well other programs within the College of Engineering is a plus. The successful applicant is expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level, to establish and maintain a strong, externally-funded research program, mentor graduate and undergraduate students and to actively engage in and contribute to internal and external professional service.
Basic Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field is required. Doctoral candidates will be considered, but must complete all the requirements for the Ph.D. degree by July 1, 2018.
